no more grass!

A patch of dirt.....

Some muscle....

And a new garden...

I think I am going to dig up all of my grass.........grass is over rated. think of all the gardening space one could have if they had no grass. Now Mulch...mulch I now believe is underrated. I love mulch! not only is it beneficial to your garden, but aesthetically pleasing and smells good. WOW right!
Okay maybe Ill keep some grass, but I really like adding all of these little tranquil spots. I replanted my peonies, they weren't doing well in the front, maybe too much shade? anyway, pray for them. Im hoping they bounce back.....PLEASE PEONIES!!!
I love my new garden, I have a speedwell, 2 bushes I forgot already, Susan's, Cone flowers, Iris, Bee Balm, and cat mint. I am planting the holly hocks and sage Sunday...then heading to the shade garden to plant my Fox gloves!! WEEEE.
I am pathetic, my life once exciting and dangerous, is now fulfilled by flowers and digging in dirt. And Rich is an even sadder story, all that energy spent on tattoo's to look tuff, and he is seen gardening ( he even wears pink gloves!)
who would have thought?

Digging in the dirt.......

Today was the first semi sunny day in New England in a week, so we spent it digging.
I have this area on the side of the house I'm going to make into a shade garden.
So far we have hostas and columbines.......

and those stone type things.......Im attempting to make the concrete potting bowls.....ha..lets see how they turn out, Im not holding my breath.
We also planted the peace pole, 4 sides that have the saying in Spanish, Norwegian, English, and animal foot prints.

and the final tada....my new space...just look at it in all its glory, enjoy the dirt now because soon it will be a garden that rivals the likes of Martha, just wait!

the Moosasa head. God I love her!

And of coarse we were visited by a few feathered friends that admired our work.

A new neighbor

he lives in the back yard, I think he may be a renter. Either way, he is helping himself to the birdseed that falls to the ground. Ill call him Simon. I'm going to try to be his friend.

I made dirt.........

My attempt at composting may turn out to be a success after all......
It is so hot and smells like dirt and onions....yum!

And a few of my blooms...

I think/hope this is a hollyhock.....i am only now realizing how tall it will get if it is...fingers crossed.

and these babies....either baby foxgloves that reseeded....or weeds....lets see. I'm so afraid to weed anything out of the ground right now..what if its a new plant growing....it could be murder.

my Susan is doing well......

and the garden is growing.......
